CAS (number)

Chemcal Abstract Service: This service provides not only an abstract service for chemical literature but also the largest substance register in the world. Each known and described substance is assigned to an unique number.

EC (number)

EC is the common used abbreviation for “EINECS number”. The EINECS inventory is the European register for chemicals. Mostly EINECS records are linked also to CAS numbers of these substances.

ECHA

European Chemicals Agency (Helsinki, Finnland): The European authority to lead the registration procedure of chemicals

Exposure scenario

Exposure scenarios describe the impact of the substance to the human and the nature during the normal use of a product.

GHS

Globally Harmonized System: A worldwide unified system of signs and simple texts to describe the chemical risk of a product.

Helpdesk

National authority which guides the producers, downstream users and end users. The given information on request is only an advice but not binding.

Only Representative

A natural or legal person established outside the Community who manufactures a substance on its own, in preparations or in articles, formulates a preparation or produces an article that is imported into the Community may by mutual agreement appoint a natural or legal person established in the Community to fulfil, as his only representative, the obligations on importers under this Title.

SVHC

Substances of very high concerns: Substances with identified high potential risk. The use of these substances should be restricted or eliminated.

Third Party Representative

Any manufacturer, importer, or where relevant downstream user, may, whilst retaining full responsibility for complying with his obligations under this Regulation, appoint a third party representative for all proceedings under Article 11, Article 19, Title III and Article 53 (REACH) involving discussions with other manufacturers, importers, or where relevant downstream users.
